The TouchSafe mobile phone payment security key was among the winners of the Design Out Crime Challenge featured in an exhibition launched at the Home Office in London on 23 March. James Brokenshire, Minister for Crime Prevention gave an address commending the role of design in generating solutions to combat criminal activity.
Marking the results of the Home Office’s Design & Technology Alliance Against Crime, supported by the Technology Strategy Board, the event was well attended with a range of industry professionals responsible for reducing crime in areas ranging from automotive to reducing bullying at school.
The Design Out Crime brief was a very interesting challenge. It was rewarding to have the work recognised as part of a programme that shows design is capable of producing a positive social benefit.
